The best way to move around in LA is by car, there are over 40 car hire companies offering good deals, however parking is expensive and not always readily available. Parking rules are very strict and vary according to the parking lot. If you hire a car don’t forget to carefully read the rules before you leave your car to avoid unnecessary fines.
From the airport
The cheapest option is by underground or by bus, both taking about one hour to get to Downtown.
By taxi is quicker and the average cost is around 30 dollars.
A paying shuttle service is a good option as it is quick and less expensive than a taxi, usually less than 15 dollars

By Bus
Buses go everywhere but they are slow to reach distant destinations as they avoid the freeways, however they have the advantage of not having to find parking, which in itself can take a while.
Dash: bus system with 6 lines covering all major points in Downtown
MTA: over 200 lines covering almost completely the whole urban area
Big Blue Buses: covering the west part of the city including Santa Monica and Westwood
Culver City Buses: buses from Culver City to Santa Monica and Westwood
By Coach
Greyhound, 1716 East 7th Street; Greyhound coaches are faster than MTA buses to go to Santa Monica, Hollywood and Disneyland.
Underground
LA underground system only has three lines
Red Line: from Union Station to Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue
Blue Line: links 7th street with Long Beach
Green Line: links Norwalk with Redondo Beach. Aviation, on this line, is the stop that serves the Airport via a free shuttle
